The American Youth Policy Forum--a Washington, DC-based policy center that aims to broaden the awareness and understanding of policymakers and to strengthen the youth policymaking process by bridging policy, practice, and research--invited NASSP to showcase a few high-poverty, high-achieving schools at a panel discussion October 24, 2008. NASSP Associate Director for High School Services Mel Riddle introduced the discussion and provided an overview of the schools' successes in a Breaking Ranks context. Riddile was the 2006 MetLife/NASSP National High School Principal of the Year and principal of one of the original Breakthrough High Schools.
