Adolescent Literacy
According to the National Assessment for Educational Progress test results, eight million students in grades 4-12 have difficulty reading and writing. Education experts estimate that only between 68 and 83 percent of all eighth graders graduate from high school in five years, and the problem is even greater in many urban areas. For these compelling reasons, NASSP has made adolescent literacy a primary and distinct focus of our advocacy efforts.
