Middle Level Advocacy

Middle Level Advocacy

NASSP is one of the lead organizations in the Middle Grades Coalition in Washington, DC.  This group includes a number of national education membership and policy organizations (NMSA, Nat’l Forum to Accelerate Middle Grades Reform, Alliance for Excellence in Education, International Reading Association, College Board, ACT and National Council of Teachers of English among others) that have come together to address federal issues of specific concern to middle level education.

  • Information on pending middle level legislation can be found at the Principal's Policy Blog
  • To contact your state and federal representatives to voice your opinion on pending legislations, use NASSP’s Principal’s Legislative Action Center (PLAC). In addition, PLAC supplies information on current issues facing education as well as bills and legislation that will effect education at the middle level.
  • Visit Middle Level Reform for more information on NASSP’s advocacy efforts at the middle level.
  • March has long been celebrated as Middle Level Education month.  For resources and ideas on how your school can draw attention to middle level education in March, and all year long, go to www.nassp.org/mlmonth
