Middle Level Student Programs

Middle Level Student Programs

Along with resources geared toward middle level school leaders, NASSP offers student programs to reach out to middle level students. Please see below for more information.

  • NASSP has administered the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) since 1929 and provides middle level advisors with resources, materials, publications and professional development that speak directly to the needs of young adolescents. Established to recognize outstanding middle level students, NJHS is more than just an honor roll. NJHS serves to honor those students who demonstrate excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, citizenship, and character.
  • The National Association of Student Councils (NASC) has a strong history of supporting middle level student councils by providing resources that is both age-appropriate and focused on introducing middle level students to concepts such as democratic principles, public service, and leadership.  In the middle level student council, students are seen as emerging leaders who are being introduced to knowledge and skills that will serve them for a lifetime.

Each month, our student publication, Leadership for Student Activities, is posted on both NJHS and NASC. This magazine includes articles written specifically for the middle level audience along with many examples of activities that can be used with middle level student programs.
