NPC20 Strands Put Your Learning First

Make your wellness and professional growth a priority at the 2020 National Principals Conference, July 7–9 in National Harbor, MD. Using the NASSP Building Ranks framework, four conference strands have been curated that will ensure your growth continues long after the event. Building a Culture of Wellness will teach attendees how to advance an environment focused on the well-being and safety of everyone in the learning community. Building a Culture of Equity will discuss how proper behavior, systems, processes, resources, and environments ensure that each member of the school community is provided fair and individualized growth opportunities. Leading Learning for Today will explore how to empower each individual to apply knowledge, skills, and dispositions to grow and contribute productively by expanding current practices with practical strategies. Finally, Leading Learning for Tomorrow will uncover what’s possible when each individual harnesses the power of innovative and disruptive ideas to contribute to society on a global scale. Celebrate Distinguished Leaders in Education

Education is a collaborative endeavor, and we’re able to succeed when individuals and organizations—both inside and outside education—support us in our mission. The NASSP Distinguished Service Awards recognize those contributions to school leadership with two distinctions: The Distinguished Service to Education Award celebrates individuals, organizations, foundations, or publications for significantly improving or strengthening education; and the Distinguished Service to NASSP Award recognizes service that has contributed significantly to NASSP’s vision to support great leaders in every school committed to the success of each student. Nominations are due by March 6. Recipients of both awards will be honored at the National Principals Conference in July. Visit www.nassp.org/recognition for more information.

Elevate Your Council’s Leadership to New Heights

To promote a positive culture at your school, advisers and students need opportunities for professional growth! Help your student council thrive by encouraging them to attend the annual National Student Council Conference (June 22–24). The three-day conference will bring together middle level and high school student leaders and advisers to learn from leadership experts, share ideas and strategies, and build a nationwide network of peers that extends beyond their school walls. This year’s theme, “Rise Up and Lead,” gives a nod to the incredible power of student leadership as well as the Mile High City. Advisers can save 50 percent with the code FEB2020 when they register at www.NatStuCoConference.org by February 29.
