With safety matters—including school shootings—grabbing headlines, students’ confidence in their personal security is continually tested. What steps can school leaders take to build students’ social-emotional learning (SEL) skills so they can safely and appropriately share their feelings? This webinar will help listeners learn how creating safe spaces, supported by evidence-based SEL strategies, can help reach students both before and after a crisis.

Participants will learn how simple SEL strategies can forge lasting, meaningful connections between students and adults. The presenter will also define what “connection” looks, feels, and sounds like in school hallways and classrooms. The webinar is aimed at fostering a classroom climate that facilitates student and teacher empathy, while providing trauma-informed, culturally relevant resources for teachers and school leaders.
