Principals, are you prepared for the new student reporting requirements going into effect during the 2019–20 school year? As part of the Every Student Succeeds Act, states are now required to break down spending of local, state, and federal dollars for each school and calculate a per-pupil expenditure (PPE). The PPE must include actual expenses instead of previously used averages and district-level numbers. The intent is to gain a better understanding of how resources are allocated across communities and within districts, but this may lead to a lot of questions from parents, members of the community, policymakers, or the media. Are you prepared to answer?
