Assistant Principal of the Year Announced

On April 9, during National Assistant Principals Week, NASSP honored Chelsea Jennings, assistant principal of Lakeside Junior High School in Springdale, AR, as the 2021 NASSP Assistant Principal of the Year (APOY). Assistant Principal Jennings led an initiative to make trauma-informed SEL interventions and resources accessible for every adult and student in her district. Additionally, she expanded school-based counseling services, cut discipline referrals in half, and established an inclusive model for transitioning students into mainstream classes. Jennings was celebrated in a special web announcement and will be recognized—alongside all state winners—at the National Principals Conference in July. Congratulations again to Chelsea Jennings! 2021 Virtual National Student Council Conference

Your student leaders have experienced a lifetime of historical events—and now it’s their turn to make history at the virtual 2021 National Student Council Conference, July 22–25. Our theme, “Student Leaders Making History,” will bring together students and advisers from across the country to sharpen their leadership skills and expand their peer networks. This year’s conference is open to all student leaders, not just National Student Council members, and individuals can register on their own—making the event more accessible than ever before. Spread the word, and encourage your student leaders and advisers to register at www.natstucoconference.org.
