In November, members of NASSP’s Board of Directors came together to visit Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., and meet with their members of Congress to advocate for education. They discussed various hot topics including reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, but they also took advantage of the opportunity to share their experiences with lawmakers. As principal and board member Brad Seamer wrote in a School of Thought blog post about the visits, “Continuous communication with our elected officials is necessary to provide them with the essential information they need to truly understand the needs of our public schools.”

NHS to Roll Out New Scholarship Search Tool

According to Bloomberg Business, “The cost of obtaining a university education in the U.S. has soared 12-fold over the past three decades.” To help National Honor Society (NHS) student members find and secure scholarship monies, an online scholarship search tool is launching in early 2016 exclusively for NHS members. Accessible through the NHS website for student members and their parents, this tool will offer filtered results of scholarship options aligned to the four pillars of National Honor Society membership: scholarship, service, leadership, and character. Visit www.nhs.us/scholarshipsearch to learn more. NASSP is the parent organization of NHS.
