Description

Ka’ōhao School leads the state and the nation in organic waste reduction, with a consistent record of waste collection and on-site processing of food waste, paper, cardboard, and green waste. Ka’ōhao students collect, sort, separate, and process all organic waste right in the middle of campus, with every grade level involved in operations. In 2016, the school was recognized as the top school in the nation by the Environmental Protection Agency through its Food Recovery Challenge for K–12 Schools.
