It’s Middle Level Education Month

March is the month to focus on students ages 10 to 15. To officially celebrate, NASSP joins with the Association for Middle Level Education (AMLE), the National Association of Elementary School Principals, the National Forum to Accelerate Middle Grades Reform, Adolescent Success, ACT, and Let’s Move! Active Schools.

As AMLE states, some of the key messages include:

  • The importance of parents being knowledgeable about their young adolescents’ activities.
  • The understanding that healthy bodies and minds equal healthy adolescents.
  • The realization that the education young adolescents experience will determine the future for all citizens.

Visit www.nassp.org/mlmonth for ideas to help you recognize middle level education and educators. The webpage includes a link for sample social media posts. Use #MLEM17 on social media to share how you’re celebrating.

Coming Soon: National Assistant Principals Week

There’s more to celebrate next month. National Assistant Principals Week will be April 10–14, 2017. That’s when NASSP joins with the National Association of Elementary School Principals and the American Federation of School Administrators to honor and recognize the contributions of assistant principals to the success of students in schools nationwide.

Start planning how you can show your appreciation for this important member of your administration now. Visit www.nassp.org/apweek for an array of ideas to support your assistant principal-from sending an e-card to planning activities for school leaders, teachers, parents, and students.

Have You Registered for the 2017 Advocacy Conference?

Here’s your chance to advocate on behalf of the nation’s schools! NASSP’s Advocacy Conference will take place April 24–26, 2017, in Washington, D.C. This conference brings together state leaders, including state coordinators, presidents-elect, state executive directors, state lobbyists, and members of the Federal Grassroots Network (FGN).
