State of American Education

April 20 | 12:00–1:15 p.m. (ET)

Every year at the National Principals Conference, NASSP hosts the “State of American Education,” a flagship panel discussion featuring elected officials, policy experts, and school leaders who examine the current state of play for federal and state education policy. This year, a separate installment of the event will also take place during the 2021 NASSP Virtual Advocacy Conference, where a panel of leading voices will explore how the current presidential administration and Congress are approaching changes to federal policy during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. In this session, you will learn what you need to know about the latest developments at the U.S. Department of Education, in the halls of Congress, and in state legislatures around the country.

Keynote Address: Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona

April 20 | 3:00–3:45 p.m (ET)

The 12th U.S. Secretary of Education will deliver remarks to conference attendees and discuss how the federal government is continuing to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, address equity in education, and provide all educators with the support they need to provide excellent education to all children.
