RESTON, VA—The National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) issued the following statement on President Biden’s FY 2023 budget proposal:

“This budget is a much needed step towards ensuring that children and educators get the resources, supports, and access they deserve,” said NASSP CEO Ronn Nozoe. “It’s clear President Biden heard the calls from school leaders to address the student mental health crisis and the looming school leader and educator shortage. Moreover, the increased Title I funding will ensure that students in need receive necessary support. Yet there is more that can be done to cultivate an excellent educator workforce through Title II. Over the next few months NASSP will work with the administration and Congress to provide a $3 billion increase to Title II to do even more to address teacher shortages and the principal pipeline.”
