Reston, VA— The National Honor Society (NHS) is excited to announce that applications are open for the 2021-22 NHS Scholarship Program, which will award $2 million to 600 outstanding high school seniors. The NHS Scholarship program is supported by NHS’s parent organization, the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP).

The scholarships recognize students who demonstrate support of the four pillars of NHS membership: scholarship, service, leadership, and character. One national winner will receive $25,000, while 24 finalists each earn a $5,625 scholarship. In addition, 575 semifinalists will receive $3,200 scholarships.

“We’re excited to support the remarkable work and dedication of NHS student leaders around the country through the scholarship program,” said NASSP CEO Ronn Nozoe. “The NHS has celebrated and supported student leaders for the past 100 years. Now, more than ever, we need bold, fearless, and passionate leaders.”

Amira Mansuri, one of last year’s winners, is a freshman at the University of Miami. “I was chosen for an NHS Scholarship because of my commitment to my school work, service and leadership,” she said. “It was awesome to be recognized for all of my efforts, and I was grateful to be awarded over $5,000 to put toward my college tuition.”

The application deadline is Dec. 1, 2021, and award winners will be notified in April 2022. Applicants must be high school seniors who are active NHS members in good standing, currently enrolled at a school with an affiliated NHS chapter, and planning to enroll at a postsecondary college or university in fall 2022.
