2020 Advocacy Conference Sessions Released Virtually
In response to COVID-19, and in the interests of the safety of school leaders nationwide, the in-person 2020 NASSP Advocacy Conference was canceled. To further our commitment to advocating on behalf of school leaders to state and federal policymakers—as well as provide educational opportunities, advocacy tools, and additional resources to school leaders—the NASSP Policy & Advocacy Center released three breakout sessions from the conference as the 2020 Virtual Advocacy Conference in June and July. October Is National Principals Month
You work tirelessly day in and day out to ensure the success and well-being of each student and adult in your learning community. This National Principals Month in October, NASSP, the American Federation of School Administrators (AFSA), and the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) are not only celebrating your efforts but advocating for the funding principals need nationwide in light of the pandemic and the array of costs their schools are facing, such as increased staffing, technology, and remote learning. We are calling on teachers, community members, policymakers, and even fellow principals to join the charge to give you, our schools, and, ultimately, our students, the resources needed to succeed. Virtual Symposium Offers Remote NPC20 Experience
While the 2020 National Principals Conference took an unexpected turn, school leaders were still able to put their growth first during a unique virtual experience. Hosted by NASSP, the Principals’ Power-Up Virtual Symposium on July 15, 2020, gave attendees the opportunity to connect with experts in two exclusive virtual sessions. In “Leaders Matter: Together, We Can,” three award-winning principals shared strategies and inspiration to model and lead in the coming school year. The other session, “Grow Toward Greatness: Developing Cultural Competencies,” analyzed steps educators need to take to work together to be proactive in facing the twin crises of COVID-19 and racial injustices in our communities.
