With a steadfast dedication to lifelong learning, Ronn Nozoe serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP), an organization dedicated to transforming education through school leadership. His deep-seated experience and future-forward perspective continue to shape the field of education, benefiting students, educators, and communities alike.

Before leading NASSP, Nozoe made significant strides at ASCD in the roles of Associate Executive Director and Interim Executive Director. His tenure there resulted in the creation of the Whole Child Network and Activate, an online resource library facilitating professional development for educators across the globe.

During his time as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Policy and Programs at the U.S. Department of Education, Nozoe initiated and managed key initiatives, strengthening teacher quality, school safety, and enhancing rural, migrant, and Indian education, thereby expanding state and local capacity.

In his native state of Hawaii, Nozoe served as the Deputy State Superintendent from 2010–15. His efforts during this period led to the creation of the Deputy’s Principal Roundtable, amplifying the voices of principals in statewide decisions. His strategic use of federal Race to the Top funds and School Improvement Grants resulted in significant improvements in statewide achievement, graduation rates, and college enrollment.

Prior to that, Nozoe served as superintendent of Farrington-Kaiser-Kalani Complex Area, and as a principal, vice principal, and teacher across various Hawaiian schools, each role adding to his deep understanding of the educational landscape.

Nozoe’s academic accomplishments include a Bachelor’s degree in English and a Master’s degree in Education and Teaching, both from the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
