Of the 353 schools that the U.S. Department of Education named National Blue Ribbon Schools for 2023, 11 are headed by school leaders who are members of NASSP. The recognition, announced in late September, is given to schools in honor of their overall academic performance or for their progress in closing achievement gaps.

According to the Department’s press release, “National Blue Ribbon Schools serve as models of effective school practices for state and district educators and other schools throughout the nation. A National Blue Ribbon School flag gracing a school’s entryway or on a flagpole is a widely recognized symbol of exemplary teaching and learning.”

Here, we spotlight the NASSP members, including NASSP Board Member Anita Berger and Andrew Farley, a 2024 National Principal of the Year finalist, whose schools achieved this distinction. Our warmest congratulations to each one of them!
